Multigenerational Art Day

Join us at Tatamagouche Centre for a day filled with Art Acticvities for youth, elders, and their much-loved parents and caregivers!

Building on the success of our Multigenerational Day Camp this past summer, we are happy to offer a full day of Art workshops on Sunday November 23rd. 


All workshops are free and open to beginners. Most materials included (see description for each)

Note that you will need to register for the workshop(s) you wish to participate in.

Here are our offerings:

Felting a Purse with Isidora Spielmann / 10am-3pm

Using wool of varied origins, silks, linen, jute, banana silk, and so much more!

Bring anything that you would like to incorporate into this purse. Jewelry, bone, bead, stone, glass, leather, lace ....

The shape of this purse is up to you, but some components will be planned into it : at least one pocket inside, a way to close it safely, a loop and or handle.

Natural Tie Dye with Annie Ferguson / 10:30-12pm

Join Annie Ferguson, self described as "manager of quite a lot" from 100 Folk Farm . Learn to work with natural dyes and fibres exploring their interplay and potential. Be inspired to connect more deeply with the living world around you.

Painting: find your treasure with Cathy Dalton / 10am - 1pm

For experienced painters and those who are shy beginners.  

Please bring :

1. Apron or old shirt - things will get messy

2. Hair dryer (if possible)

3. Gadgets that would make interesting marks

(old potato masher, little toy cars, bubble wrap etc)

Swedish Weaving with Barbara Oke / 1- 3:30pm

Learn how to add Swedish Weaving to a small table runner.

Swedish weaving is a fairly simple surface darning technique that produces geometric and linear designs on Monk’s cloth.

If you’re eager to try a relatively simple and inexpensive embroidery technique that can produce some pretty results, why not give Swedish weaving a try?

Baking Cookies with Susan Stephen / 10am-1pm

Susan Stephen sold baked goods, including breads, cookies and cinnamon rolls, from 2011-2015 at the New Glasgow Farmers Market, under the Red Road Farm label. She also taught weeklong cooking workshops for children and youth at Flanders Nature Center in Connecticut during the summer of 2016, including themes such as Muffin Mania and Crazy Cupcakes. She’s excited to get back in the kitchen!
