A LITTLE ABOUT SOAPSTONE
Soapstone is a gift from the Earth!
Soapstone’s name comes from its smooth, soapy feel. It’s technical Latin name
is Steatite. Soapstone registers at 1 or 2 out of 10 on the ”Mohs Scale”, which
measures the hardness of rock. It is quite soft! People have been carving and
sculpting with this beautiful stone for centuries.
Soapstone is found in many places of the world, including Canada, in several
provinces, sea to sea.
With help from the Government of Canada’s New Horizons for Seniors Program, Tatamagouche Centre is pleased to offer the Rooting & Connecting Isolated Seniors part 2. Free to all seniors (aged 55+) and youths these sessions will offer various workshops centred around health.
