BREAKING THE SILENCE ANNUAL GATHERING

The Maritimes-Guatemala Breaking the Silence Network (BTS) invites you to our 2024 Annual Gathering, SOLIDARITY IN A TIME OF DEMOCRATIC CHANGE. Friday May 31st, 7pm to Sunday, June 2nd, 1pm. We are excited that our new Guatemala Coordinators, Maria Reyes and Martha Schmitz, will be with us, along with Maritimes Coordinator, Arturo Ezquerro-Canete. They will bring up-to-date news of the evolving situation in Guatemala, in relation to the Arevalo Government.They will also share the challenges and achievements of our partners..

A Xinka Parliament representative will join us, possibly in person and, if that is not possible, on Zoom, along with the screening of a new film on mining justice. Our 2024 Cooperants, Romi Fischer-Schmidt and Melisande Seguin, will share their stories on Zoom. May 2024 delegation participants will share highlights of their journey.. You will meet our new BTS Interns, heading to Guatemala a week late. Of course, there will be time for community building and a Saturday night fiesta! Over more than three decades, the Annual Gathering has been fundamental to the building of BTS solidarity. We hope to have as many BTS members and supporters as possible,Your presence matters!!! So please come to re-connect or build new relationships, get updated on struggles in Guatemala and be inspired to ongoing support and action.

Bursaries are provided by the Breaking the Silence Network. We sell Guatemalan crafts and BTS coffee during the year to ensure that all who support BTS can attend. Please do not stay away because of a lack of funds! We need you! However, it is helpful for you to pay a portion of the cost, if you are able.
